ASP Books Announces 18 International Poets Selected for Imagine | Imagina: A Bilingual Children’s Poetry Anthology
New bilingual collection brings together poets from Puerto Rico, the United States, Canada, Ireland, Italy and Poland in a celebration of childhood, imagination, culture and creativity
RALEIGH, N.C. — September 10, 2026 — Artist Studio Project Publishing LLC | ASP Books has announced the 18 poets selected for Imagine | Imagina: A Bilingual Children’s Poetry Anthology, a new collection of poetry in Spanish and English scheduled for release May 29, 2027.
Edited and illustrated by Raleigh-based author, artist and cultural producer Rafael A. Osuba, Imagine | Imagina will feature 72 pages of bilingual poetry and original black-and-white illustrations created to invite children to read, wonder, question, explore and create.
The anthology grew from an international call for poetry that reached well beyond its organizers’ expectations. Submissions arrived from across the United States and Puerto Rico and from Canada, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Shanghai, China.
“We sent out a call without knowing who would hear it,” said Osuba. “And it traveled. We received poems from writers we knew and from people we had never met, from different places, cultures and experiences. What began as a call for poetry became something much larger—a collection of voices imagining together for children.”

Throughout Imagine | Imagina, children encounter poetry in many forms and through many experiences. They may find themselves flying into space, collecting moonbeams, discovering the extraordinary in ordinary objects, exploring nature and science, remembering family and culture, laughing, wondering and asking questions.
The illustrations extend that invitation. With very limited exceptions, children are not physically depicted in the interior artwork, intentionally leaving room for young readers of different backgrounds and identities to imagine themselves inside the poems and their worlds.
“This book was written for children. All children,” Osuba said. “Our hope is not simply that a child reads a poem and turns the page. We hope something they encounter makes them want to pick up a pencil—to write, draw, ask a question, investigate something, tell a story or create something of their own.”
The anthology also reflects ASP Books’ broader commitment to using storytelling, literature and visual art to create opportunities for children and communities to see themselves as participants in culture rather than simply audiences for it.
Imagine | Imagina will be officially released on May 29, 2027, as part of the 5th Annual International Children’s Day celebration and the 12th season of El Quixote Festival — Voces Poéticas | Poetic Voices.

Editada e ilustrada por el autor, artista y productor cultural radicado en Raleigh Rafael A. Osuba, Imagine | Imagina contará con 72 páginas de poesía bilingüe e ilustraciones originales en blanco y negro, creadas para invitar a los niños a leer, maravillarse, preguntar, explorar y crear.
La antología nació de una convocatoria internacional de poesía cuya respuesta superó ampliamente las expectativas de sus organizadores. Se recibieron trabajos de distintas partes de Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico, así como de Canadá, México, Panamá, Colombia, Irlanda, Italia, Polonia y Shanghái, China.
“Lanzamos una convocatoria sin saber quién la escucharía”, expresó Osuba. “Y viajó. Recibimos poemas de escritores que conocíamos y de personas que nunca habíamos conocido, provenientes de distintos lugares, culturas y experiencias. Lo que comenzó como una convocatoria de poesía se convirtió en algo mucho más grande: una colección de voces imaginando juntas para los niños”.

A lo largo de Imagine | Imagina, los niños encontrarán poesía en muchas formas y a través de diversas experiencias. Podrán imaginarse viajando al espacio, coleccionando rayos de luna, descubriendo lo extraordinario en objetos cotidianos, explorando la naturaleza y la ciencia, recordando la familia y la cultura, riendo, maravillándose y haciendo preguntas.
Las ilustraciones amplían esa invitación. Con muy pocas excepciones, los niños no aparecen físicamente representados en las ilustraciones interiores, dejando intencionalmente espacio para que jóvenes lectores de distintos orígenes e identidades puedan imaginarse dentro de los poemas y sus mundos.
“Este libro fue escrito para los niños. Para todos los niños”, expresó Osuba. “Nuestra esperanza no es simplemente que un niño lea un poema y pase la página. Esperamos que algo de lo que encuentre lo impulse a tomar un lápiz: a escribir, dibujar, hacer una pregunta, investigar algo, contar una historia o crear algo propio”.
La antología también refleja el compromiso más amplio de ASP Books de utilizar la narración, la literatura y las artes visuales para crear oportunidades que permitan a los niños y a las comunidades verse como participantes de la cultura y no simplemente como espectadores.
Imagine | Imagina será presentado oficialmente el 29 de mayo de 2027, como parte de la celebración del 5.º Día Internacional del Niño y de la 12.ª temporada de El Quixote Festival — Voces Poéticas | Poetic Voices.
